Shortlisted for Green Gown Award!!
We’ve been shortlisted in the Construction and Refurbishment category for the refurbishment work that took place last summer in Student Village. The energy saving measures introduced to courts 13-17 included replacing flourescent lights with LEDs, upgrading to A+ rated kitchen appliances, and replacing manual thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) with electronic TRVs. These measures represent a 23% reduction in electricity consumption and a 14% reduction in gas consumption. Overall this equates to a saving of 526 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
In the next stage of the awards process we are up against four others including Nottingham Trent University, Manchester College, Belfast Metropolitan College, and Coleg Gwent.
The Environment Team have until September to put together an award winning ‘stage 2’ application. So hopefully we’ll be celebrating at the award ceremony in November at Derby College!!
