During milder months you may find that your radiator will feel cold to the touch most of the time. This is because they are programmed to come on when the temperature in your room falls below 19°C (16°C from 10pm to 6am). Similarly you may find that when you press and hold the grey button for 2 seconds to boost the temperature (it is programmed to boost to 21°C) nothing seems to happen. This is because the temperature in your room will already be 21°C or above. Most of the rooms in student village are really well insulated and will retain any heat generated from electrical equipment etc.
If you are still concerned that your radiator isn’t working properly you can carry out a simple check. Press the grey button quickly and you will see a series of flashing green, then flashing red lights. The number of green flashes relates to the temperature that the radiator is programmed to. The number of red flashes relates to the actual temperature of the room. It should give four green flashes indicating it is programmed to 19°C. If it then flashes four or more red flashes then the radiator won’t come on as it is already up to the required temperature. If in doubt contact the Accommodation Office 01522 886195/ 886231.
