Monday – Transport Day:
Students finding out about walking and cycling in and around Lincoln.
Lincolnshire Police advise cyclists on protecting their bikes.
Tuesday – Sustainable Food Day
University of Lincoln as a Fairtrade University supports Lincoln to become a Fairtrade city. Thanks to the Lincolnshire Cooperative students enjoyed FREE samples of chocolate, tea, coffee and banana smoothies (made by a cycle powered blender, supplied by Sustrans).
Student Support Centre Outreach Team put on a colourful display. Students had a chance to win a basket of shopping whilst sharing their own money saving tips.
Love Food Hate Waste – students were given spaghetti serving measurers and handy recipe card folders.
Measuring pasta makes people smile!
The Vegertarian and Vegan Society’s bake sale was a great success. Using beetroot and bananas in their bakes they showed how you can ‘love food and hate waste’.
The Fairtrade stall was very popular, giving away free chocolate bars to everyone who passed. Keep an eye out for future events during Fairtrade Fortnight!
Wednesday – Waste and Energy Day
Taking part in the energy Olympics was great fun but to have a podium finish you had to be FAST!!
V3 brought in their demo DIY solar panels and wind turbines. We hope to offer practical workshops in the future so please get in touch if you’re interested – environment@lincoln.ac.uk.
Thursday – Do It Yourself Day
We had a fabulous day in the Platform decorating cupcakes, making greetings cards, knitting and crocheting, making pop can jewellery, and being Crafty Upcyclers!
We even found time to tidy the campus.
